Tom Kenny (Spongebob himself!) on WTF with Marc Maron
I’ve been listening to WTF for two years now (and watching Spongebob non-ironically for 12) and I must say this is one of the best episodes I’ve heard in a long time.
Tom admits up front that he isn’t a sad or broken or “damaged” man like he perceives many of Marc’s guests to be, so he worries he won’t be as interesting. Instead we get a look at his early friendship with Bobcat Goldthwait, his stand-up career, his time on sketch shows like The Edge and Mr.Show and how he’s become a modern day Mel Blanc (Marc’s words, not Tom’s). But it’s true; Google this man and you’ll see that even besides the yellow sponge, Tom is the driving force behind bringing life to hundreds of our favorite characters (did you watch Cartoon Network or Nick at any point in time during the 90’s?)
